Summer Plans

On May 28, we will be hitching up the Honda Fit behind the Winnebago View, leaving Tucson, and heading north.

We will be stopping to say hello to family along the way. Our northern most stop is Orcas Island arriving June 6th. Then we head east back to Wisconsin for the Firebaugh's 50th; the Egerton and the Miller family; then on to Baltimore to visit with the Fays before they take off for Australia; back to Wisconsin for the International Native American Flute Festival in Eau Claire; on to the Vernon's for the annual farm weekend; over to Eagle for a one month (August) stay in a rental home on Eagle Springs Lake. then back to Tucson via the Grand Canyon and Sedona around arriving around the first of Oct.

I've decided to explore keeping a journal on blogger.com. So now when I send out emails, they will be updates to the journal on blogger.com. That way the trip will be kept in one place where I can read it in my "old age."

Mother's Day

Linda and I celebrated Mother's Day by riding our tandem bike to Billy Bob's Cafe for breakfast. We took our devices (iTouch and iPad) so we had something to do while waiting for our orders to be filled. I know this sounds terrible -- but we are hooked on these devices. I read Thomas Frieman's op-ed piece in the NY Time Root Canal Politics. A must read.

When we came out of the cafe, I discovered a flat front tire. It was a slow leak so we decided to pump it up and head for home. It took three move pumpings to make it back.

Yesterday we visited the Oro Valley Farmer's Market. Here are some pictures best viewed by clicking on slideshow.

May in Oro Valley

The Saguaro is a large tree-sized cactus native to the Sonoran Desert, where we live, begins to blossom in May. It is the state flower.

It turns into ruby-colored fruit in late June.
